I know it ain't right an proper fer music on these threads but this is serious and it is topical considerin' the unrest about pulling out our servicemen from war theaters at this time.
This is what a bunch of guys feel about the situation.......

"This is what a bunch of guys feel about the situation"

Yeah, but don't forget that 'bunch of guys' is Dustin Evans and his C&W band. I just read a Dustin Evans bio and saw no mention of him ever having served in the forces. He's making money on that song and hasn't really paid his dues (if you get my drift).

Last poll results I read reported that there were more U.S. troops serving in Iraq who were against the war than were in favour of it (in about the same proportion as the U.S. general public being more against the war than for it).

Now that is interesting...... gabria....
In one breath you are pointing out that these guys are sitting at home making money out of the situation our servicemen are in, then you go on to tell us that the biggest percentage of folks don't agree with the war and want our servicemen home!
I have yet to meet a professional soldier who likes going to war. I'm not talking about 'Gung-Ho Cowboys' every service has its share of them, and every person who has served in a real war theater knows how they acquit themselves in the face of action.
However once a serviceman/woman signs up they obey orders...... if we are in the game of laying off blame....look no further than the government!
Being for or against the war is not something that will prevent our service personnel from carrying out their orders.

"However once a serviceman/woman signs up they obey orders."

Gee Daffy, thanks for clearing that up for me. I always found that whole concept hard to fathom during the more than 20 years I spent in the army.

(yes. I am being facetious).

Why would you want to be gabria?
Found it hard to fathom eh? Twenty years in the service and still found the whole concept of obeying orders hard to fathom.
All service personnel were given a spade, if I may I would suggest you stop digging.
If you are looking for change.... change your government and desist from attacking your service personnel. You have been there, you know the situation.... stand with those who are only obeying orders.

thank you daff.
what a great song,
and such a beautiful dedication for
those that gave up much to give us our freedom.
LOVE
elk
Back home now I know you're probably sleepin'
Over here it's the middle of the day
I finally found the time to write a letter
Sittin' here a half a world away

I heard about all them folks protestin'
As if I really want this war
But that don't stop me from believin'
There's just some things worth fightin' for

And if I die before you wake, I pray the world will take
A good look at what God's given us
That we could only understand, everything is in his hands
All we need is a little faith and trust
I want you to know it ain't too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake

Tell everybody that I miss them
And I can't wait to get back home
But until then I'll serve my country
And be proud to wear this uniform

Don't worry Elkie..... everyone has an opinion... and are entitled to be heard. The secret is in listening to what your own conscience is telling you. We can all pontificate having had a glimpse of the 'BIG' picture but it is the personnel at the sharp end who see it all.
One should never berate those that serve them but should turn their attention to those (in government) who, having secure the trust of the people, betray them.
We have seen both sides of this discussion, (in brief) both sides have valid points, we need to do our job at home and cover the six of our serving personnel.

P.S. Some bed time reading for gabria

This is a URL that houses several videos which when viewed reminds us why we revere and salute our service personnel past and present..... if you have a pittance of time...... they are worth a look.
